Happy Birthday Canada

Happy Canada Day to all of my fellow Canadians. It’s pouring rain outside so we spent the day in. We had planned on going to the lcoal park for a picnik, music, and face paintings but that was out of the question. I suppose the boardwalk firework display will be too. Oh well, we can’t control mother nature.

Have a great evening!

Bottle Frustration

I am really trying to get Alyssa to use a sippy cup but she doesn’t seem to want to learn. I have let her see, hold, and sometimes play with the sippy cups since she has been about 6 months old. I didn’t want to force anything on her (and still don’t) but I think now is the time she needs to start being pushed just a little bit more toward the cup.

Reason being? She has 5 teeth now, and with teeth comes biting and pulling. She now does this with the nipples on the bottle. They are getting worn out very quickly and quite frankly I’m scared she’s going to break it one of these times and choke.

Alyssa definitely has a mind of her own. She has my stubbornness and her dad’s temper. All in all she’s an excellent child but when she gets something in her head it’s hard to stop her from doing it. Right now, trying to bite the nipples off of the bottles are it. I don’t know how else to deal with aside from try sippy cups.

Any suggestions?

Where to Begin?

Gosh, it’s been a while since I’ve last blogged. This leaves me not knowing where to begin to even describe what has been going on lately so I’ve decided to break down inc ategories.

Alyssa - She has been doing great. She will now let go of things when trying to walk but she usually falls on her bum. I have seen her stand up on her own for about 3-5 seconds though. I guess this means walking is soon to come. If not, It’s okay. I’m ready to have a heart attack in the process though. My nerves are shot.

My Eyes – For those following me on twitter you may already know but I have been having some problems with my eyes lately. I have glaucoma and my cornea is swollen. My visison has been severely reduced and depending on the time of day can be worse. It’s a very strange situation. One hour I can see fine the next I can’t. I get a lot of pain and I have to take eye drops every two hours. I saw the doctor yesterday and she said she has to send me to a hospital that specializes in glaucoma which is 5 hrs away. I’m just waiting for the call to go.

Myself & Matthew – We seem to be doing better as a couple. I’ve talked to him about some issues bothering me and now we seem to be more open with one another. Hopefully it keeps up. I am currently exhausted with my eye drop schedule plus a 9 month old but atleast I’m keeping busy. I am looking into a different university for next year … hopefully I can make a decision on that so I can apply soon. Matthew is still applying for jobs but in the eman time we are waiting for unemployment to kick in.

Other – We have a trip planned over to PEI in 2 weeks for the Cavendish beach Music Festival. I am hoping my eyes clear up before then or I might have some diffuclty making it there. I am being optomistic though, keeping my fingers and toes crossed I can go. More on that later ..
